Close Call

Do you believe in guardian angels?

Well, I normally don’t, but something happened yesterday that had me seeing one. Here’s a story:

BabyGirl and I had been shopping and I was happy to be leaving town before the lunch crowd hit the roads – but the streets were still crowded as I pulled onto the main road. We stopped at a red light and patiently waited for it to turn green, when it did I quickly accelerated. As I started through the intersection, I noticed the car to the left of me getting awful close. So I slowed down and then stomped on the brakes.

It seems the nice little, old lady in the BMW to our left had decided to turn right at this intersection and I happened to be in her way. By my stopping she was able to make the turn and continue on her way - as were we. But driving down the road later, I kept replaying those few seconds in my head and I could almost visualize a tall, blond haired guy in a long white gown and brown sandals laced around his calves standing in front of my car – one hand on my hood and the other hand pushing on the right front of her car. I almost expected to see a dent in my hood when I got home!

While I do believe in angels, I’ll find out when I get to heaven whether or not there are guardian angels. If so, I owe mine a thank you! Regardless, I’m thankful for God’s protection while driving.
