Dirty Floor

For some reason when my house was built, the previous owner decided to put down white linoleum in the kitchen. (Why white?) Needless to say, it gets dirty quite easily - and for quite a while I was unable to clean it.

Here recently, I’ve been trying to get together the time and energy to clean it, but when I would look at how dirty it is and how much floor there is to scrub (on my hands and knees), I would get discouraged before I even started…until I had a new thought last week. Now I am taking one small section of the floor at a time and working on getting it clean and then I go on with my normal everyday life. The next day, I’ll take another small section and work to clean it. Right now while it is in transition, it looks a little funny with areas that are white and areas that aren’t so white – but the point is – I’m eventually going to have a clean floor!

Looking at my patchwork floor makes me think about my spiritual life – when I look at how I need to change to become more Christ-like; I get discouraged and don’t even try. But if I will concentrate on obeying God in the one or two little areas that he calls to my attention, I will gradually end up with a cleaner (more Godly life) for others to see.
